NIPPI: our story
The duo behind nippi and how everything began
our story
It started with the way we traveled.
Just the two of us, moving through China and beyond—figuring things out as we went, taking the long way, paying attention to the small things that don’t show up in guides.
At some point, friends started asking.
Mostly people we knew from school or work, who had been following our travels and wondered what it would take to experience China for themselves. It felt distant to them—different, unfamiliar—so they came to us.
So we helped—sharing routes, adjusting plans, passing on what we had learned from being there ourselves.
Then they told others.
Friends, friends of friends, sometimes family.
And without really planning it, it kept growing.
Somewhere along the way, we realized we had built something we could stand behind—enough experience, enough understanding to shape it into something more.
That’s how NIPPI took form.
Not as a typical travel agency, but as a way of opening up China—through a perspective that feels more natural, more personal, and closer to how it’s actually experienced.
what make us different
Our roots in China give us a way of understanding the country from the inside.
At the same time, having spent years living abroad means we also see it from the outside—how it feels when you first approach it, what’s unclear, what can be overwhelming.
Most of the people who reach out to us are the kind of travelers we relate to ourselves.
Curious, independent, and not looking for something overly structured.
People who prefer to explore at their own pace.
Who don’t want to be led from one stop to another.
Who are more interested in how a place feels than how it’s packaged.
Because of that, what we do is quite simple.
We don’t build fixed tours or try to control the experience.
We help you understand China well enough to move through it naturally—on your own terms.
our philosophy
We believe travel isn’t about seeing everything, but about seeing things that matter—at your own pace, in a way that feels natural.
China can feel complex, even overwhelming at first. From transportation and payments to language and local customs, the details matter. We help travelers make sense of these small things, so they can move through the country freely and confidently.
Our approach isn’t about rigid schedules or overly curated itineraries. It’s about creating just enough structure to feel comfortable, and leaving enough space for discovery, curiosity, and unexpected moments.
The best experiences come when you can engage with a place on your own terms—notice the quiet streets, try the local food, pause where you want, linger where it feels right. That’s what we aim to make possible for every journey.
